Beginning this summer, Rockbrook Elementary School will start construction on the addition of a gym and an early childhood center on the blacktop area where the playground is currently located just to the north of the pool. The Pool Board was able to meet with Prairie Construction and the principal at Rockrook Elementary to get important information to pass along to pool members. We also will email and text any important updates as the project continues through the summer.
We are fortunate to have a great partnership with the school and construction company and the Pool Board feels very confident that things will run smoothly. The south parking lot that the pool uses will not be affected this summer, however, parking will not be allowed weekdays from 6am-5pm on Woodridge Lane around the construction area. Construction crews will not be allowed to park in the south parking lot. Signs will be posted along the construction fences. We are also able to use the north school parking lot for overflow as well.
What to expect this summer – Noisy activities
➢ Demo and earthwork
➢ Concrete footings and building slab
➢ Storm sewer tie in middle of Woodridge Lane (More information to come on this, but they are hoping to complete this after the pool closes this fall.)
Please be extra cautious about crossing the street from the parking lot to the pool and supervising children around the construction area as there will be an increase in traffic, heavy equipment and trucks. Using the sidewalk on 108th Street in front of the school for walking or biking would be a preferred route rather than Woodridge Lane.
If you have any questions or concerns throughout the summer, please email the pool board and we will do our best to answer questions or find out information as needed.
